In the lighting society there is an ongoing discussion about advantages and disadvantages of daylight versus electric light. I think such comparison is problematic, as daylight can not be controlled by humans and represents a huge package of different qualities, while electric light is often a simple human-made device developed for practical needs. Agree?

A simple answer can be it depends. However, I agree for some extent. I suggest you to look at the following papers, that disscus and/or asses the performance of some daylight paradigms in buildings:
1- "Useful daylight illuminance: a new paradigm for assessing daylight in buildings".
2- "Useful daylight illuminances: A replacement for daylight factors".
3- "A comprehensive approach to the integration of daylight and electric light in buildings".
