If I am to adopt a previously validated questionnaire, and then make some minimal revisions to the items, would I still need to perform a validity test? Or is a reliabity test using cronbach’s alpha already sufficient??
It's always a good idea to collect data that allows you to make informed judgments of the technical quality of a measure, when applied to a new population, when modified, or when used for a different purpose than the original version.
If you can't do so, due to time constraints or the inability to collect additional data up front, then you could, minimally, ask a small group of domain experts whether they would judge your modifications as benign for changing the meaning of the measure.
