Amna Younis Sure it does. When the expectations of the family are much above the potential of their offsprings, they create an undue pressure on students to gain more marks/high academic performance which inturn lead to high stress and anxiety in them to meet the expectations of the family. Many other factors like education system which is only mark oriented, social pressure, financial status of the family etc can contribute to the unrealistic high expecations for academic performance in students. I hope I have answered your query to my best.
