Do growing income and social inequalities lead to social divisions, tensions and conflicts, social crises and, as a consequence, can they also lead to economic crises?

There are many indications that growing income and social inequalities are a serious challenge, leading to divisions and tensions. Social stratification, where the rich get richer and the poor get poorer, generates a sense of injustice and a lack of trust in the state. These inequalities affect not only earnings but also access to education, healthcare and culture, creating a vicious circle of poverty. The wealthy have easier access to education, which translates into better career prospects. Unequal access to healthcare exacerbates the sense of injustice. The feeling of exclusion can lead to frustration and social conflict. Growing inequality threatens democracy because the political power can favour the rich. An effective solution requires comprehensive strategies, including redistribution policies, investment in education and strengthening state institutions. Research plays an important role in solving this problem.
