I am aware that a few pairs of Mediterranean origin nested near Arcachon a few years ago, but I am not sure whether they continue to do so. I would greatly appreciate any other information about recent nesting attempts of Cory´s shearwaters in Atlantic France.

As far as I am aware the northermost breeding area is in the Portuguese coast. Some of them move north outside the breeding season going as far as France and the British Isles.

L'espèce du Puffin cendré niche en France, selon Cadiou et al. (2004) entre 970 – 1200 couples nicheurs. la plus grande population niche en Tunisie.
I believe there are some breeders on south-western atlantic coast, I'll check that in the literature.
As far as I know, breeders in France only occurs in Mediterranean sea. You may write to Drs Bernard Cadiou or Clara Peron, whom are both on Research Gate and will be able to give you an accurate answer. In his book (2004), Cadiou did not mentionned any breeder in Atlantic, but an update is on progress and may say something else.
The latest census of breeding birds in France (2009-2012) has just been published (see Cadiou). It says "Sur le littoral Atlantique, aucune preuve de reproduction n’a été obtenue sur la période récente en Gironde (Mays et al. 2006) et au moins un individu a été noté à terre en période de reproduction sur les îlots du Morbihan (M. Fortin comm. pers.)." They don't say there is no breeders, a question mark was left for Gironde county (33). Hope it helps...

The French Birds Handbook (2008, so older than what Emeline is quoting) says there were 3 pairs in Gironde in the 2000's. I guess that the global situation is probably that even if breeding can occur in Atlantic France, it is scarce and not very predictable.
