Most of the tasks a clinical medical physicists perform do not require someone with Ph.D. to perform them effectively. Al the same time researchers and academic medical physicists do not need to have completed their board certification to perform their job in an effective manner. However, many of the clinical jobs available today require Ph.D. and many of the academic and research position require board certification. Can someone help me clarify the importance in either case?
