I have a dog who loves cats, he is a puppy and from 3 to 9 months he has been exposed to a few cats. He mostly chases them benignly underneath things and then cries to play with them. He has been able to put his nose on the friendliest indoor cat when he is lounging. Where does this go next?

Hello Tristan.Dogs usually do not like cats.But it is possible, when the dog owner wants the cat to live with the dog or when the dog is very lonely it can have a good relationship with the cat.My two-year-old dog took about an hour to befriend a kitten and nurture him, although he would not accept other cats.
I read somewhere that cats have cognitive functions similar to very small children. They learn or try to learn what is needed to get food. That could be a primitive form of getting along. Some papers may be helpful for you:
