The definition of a wavelet transform it that this is a function that provides orthonormal series that are square integrable. Gabor Filter decomposition is neither of these. So they are not "true" wavelets. However, they are optimisation algorithms that "try" to make Gabor-filters-like-wavelets, i.e. orthonormal and square integrable (that is that the frequency "space" to "tile" without gabs when "back reconstruct" the signal decomposed on Gabor filters, or wihtout "lost of infromation"). Gabor Banks are not able to provide decomposition of a signal that can be fully "restored" so they are not "true" wavelets but they are wavelets-like. Yes, you can find the funtion in Matlab, and also you can create your own and try to "optimise" it by modifiying the sigmas along the two orthogonal axes. You can also "try" to optimise it by using filter design technique but you have to apply "windowing" so there is no "contaminations" in frequency aspect.
Ok, but the filters that you have suggested are Pseudo Gabor filters, they are not "Gabor wavelets." You are optimising the search for the almost optimal scales selection and provide a criteria for "alignment" of pseudo gabor filters to a direction of the "star-like" formation in the image of possibly a diseased breast.
