It is clear that knowing the energy value of feed is necessary for diet formulation of animal specially pig. So what could be the possible reason for the DE value of test ingredient in the diet to be greater than the GE of test diet ?
Am asking this question because i tried to calculate the DE value of Pichia pastoris residue to be used as new feed material in the diet of Pig due to its high crude protein content, using the difference procedure described by Adeola 2001, but the DE value of this Pichia pastoris residue is higher than the GE value of the diet formulated.
