The method to be use will depend on the objective of your proposed research. Rumen degradability technique using nylon bags could be suitable to your experiment. Please see:

It is essential that the animals receive 7 to 14 days of habituation to the rations to be evaluated. to then evaluate consumption and collect feces to determine digestibility. You should also have a good metabolic cage where faeces and urine do not join and leach material and get lost in the fluid. The drinkers should not spill over the collection areas. And the feeders must avoid the loss of food by selection of the animal, using protective rims and avoiding excesses of food greater than 5% of the daily consumption, within a storage volume of twice the supply
