Hi all, I am working on a ductile shear zone (E-W trending, near vertical to steeply dipping to the north) where the rock is dominantly mylonitic and stretching lineations are in most cases down the dip to steeply easterly plunging. Structural mapping indicates that this shear zone appear to transpose on the previously formed granulite grade fabric. The intriguing fact is that when I am looking at the XZ sections of different samples (looking from east) I am getting both normal and reverse slip shear sense (from S-C fabric and asymmetric tails of porphyroclasts) in this ductile shear zone.

Anybody has any idea why such differences in shear sense is occurring on XZ sections (all are looked from east) in the same shear zone?
