Scientific misconduct is the violation of the standard codes of scholarly conduct and ethical behavior in professional scientific research (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientific_misconduct). Scientific misconduct, together with several questionable research practices, is undermining the fundaments of the progress of knowledge based on scientific research as well as the public trust in science.
