Did anybody come across on prevalence of urticarial in follicular lymphoma pts.
I have pt ,who thinks that his urticarial which becomes resistant to multiple antihistamines is manifestation of his dormant follicular lymphoma.
I will appreciate your help

survival was prolonged at patients with stage III/IV
follicular lymphomas who received Rituximab
maintenance therapy to 3.6 years
vs. 1.9 years withobservation only. These results were concordant with the
results published in the mentioned studies. Rituximab is
generally well tolerated; hypersensitivity reaction is rare
and appears at first dose; other side effects are: leukopenia,
granulocytopenia, fever, chills, rash, urticaria,
infections, hemorrhage, hypogammaglobulinemia. Our
patients developed: mild to moderate hypogammaglobulinemia
– six patients; severe leukopenia with
neutropenia – three patients, two of them with severe
infections; one patient had urticaria. Severe leukopenia
with neutropenia correlated with severe infections was
more frequently observed after R-CHOP."
Chronic lympho-proliferative disorders can be associated with urticaria.
Many thanks. He has urticaria which he tries to control with few strong antihistamines. If he has sever attack, when his body becomes covered with big rad patches he takes rescue prednisolone.
You can send the patient's peripheral blood for flowcytometry, and you can also check mutation of the IgH by PCR on the peripheral blood.

I am not sue if you can order those tests. You probably need to refer your patient to a hematologist in a tertiary center such as Royal Free Hospital.
