A research fellow developed high entropy cast iron alloy by adding Carbon to Cantor high entropy alloy composition (FeCoCrNiMn). However, white cast irons (especially high Cr cast irons) are known to contain carbide forming elements which help to enhance the hardness and wear resistance of such alloys. What if one decides to develop the high entropy cast iron by considering carbide forming elements (Cr, Mo and V) together with Co for high temperature effect? I tried to determine the average melting temperature of such an alloy and got a value within the range of 2000k. Would this alloy be economically feasible if it can be processed in an atmospheric environment?
