Now, this detection is based on PCR. This is an RNA virus and the mutation rate is much higher. For biosensor preparation, we require all scientists in one platform, and in the present scenario, it is not possible.
Dear all, I was thinking on similar strategy to develop sensors for viruses. My idea is based simply on developping sensors bearing the constitution of the elements targets for the virus, which in the case of covid-19 is the ACE-2. But no practical work is done right now. My Regards
Generally, two kinds of mechanism for virus detection, RNA or antibody. For antibody, most of methods can refer toELISA ( enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay ). For RNA there are methods of sequencing or complementary bonding. The signal extraction can be fluorocence, SPR or electrochemistry chraracterization etc . The method of current blockade impact electrochemistry sensing in our group has the potential to detect virus also.
It is too early to employ biosensors and nanoparticles as a substrate for COVID-19 detection. It's antigens antibiotics reaction needs to be more investigate and many details should be evaluated. After that, it should be possible to suggest a modified electrode for its detection.
