If your supervisor puts an extract of your thesis-book in a solo paper, and does not credit the source (your thesis-book) then that is wrong.
However, once your PhD-book is published, for copying costs, it is available to anyone who contacts your university library. Your librarian and even your supervisor need not inform you. For example, your supervisor may wish to include the extract in his/her lecture notes. As a courtesy, the supervisor should mention this to you in your common room.
