The rise of temporary authoritarianism in liberal democracies has confused traditional democratic and political thinkers as they seem to be acting under paradigm shift knowledge gaps which allows them to a kind of be living in the past while the democratic world they are supposed to be championing slowly moves towards the dodo bird ending in front of our eyes.
Democratic capitalism can be seen as having a heart and body, If its heart is in temporary authoritarianism mode and its body is still in democratic capitalism mode, then if the heart is cut off, both the heart and body should be expected to die. The heart can be cut off whithout realizing that the heart of democratic capitalism can not survive without its body and its body can not servive without its heart. The meeting of the president of the USA and the leader of Russia needs to be seen from this perspective as when you have temporary authoritarianism and permanent authoritarianism in competition with a common enemy, democratic capitalism, you can see that the theory of the enemy of my enemy is my friend and the theory of the both ways useful idiots applies. So the question: Democratic capitalism vrs non-democratic capitlism and warm cold wars, is not this the proper way to look at today's world dynamics?
