I have only the basics on this topic from college. I would like to know what are the most comprehensive and most read reviews on this concept. Thanks in advance.
Hinsinger et al. (2009) Rhizosphere: biophysics, biogeochemistry
and ecological relevance. Plant and Soil 321: 117-152
Hinsinger et al. (2005) Rhizosphere geometry and heterogeneity arising from rootmediated physical and chemical processes. New Phytologist 168: 293-303
However, there is no "the rhizosphere". The rhizosphere (the volume of soil that is infuenced by plant roots) depends on plant physiology and some soil properties. So, to answer your question some more information is needed.
Dear Oliver, by "the" rhizosphere I mean the concept. I am guessing that there is a formal concept (either idealized or operational) of rhizosphere and that this concept includes some systematization of its dynamics (compartments, fluxes, transfers, rates, etc). I thank you very much for the references. I'm on my way to read them.
yes, please go to review papers of Philippe Hinsinger (my supervisor of thesis). And for rhizosphere management, please go to Zhang et al., (2010 and 2012) in Advances in Agronomy.
