I am trying to find Solar Irradiation data in Indonesia to design PV system. I am looking for monthly and daily irradiation data because different season should have different irradiation.
I tried to look at Solargis but the datas are in Esri ASCII Grid and Geotiff format which I have no experience to work with. I am hoping to obtain numerical data in which I could input for calculation
Could someone with experiences with Solargis or these data formats explain a bit how to extract information from them?
If possible someone could also give alternative sources for irradiation data.

Satellite based long term averaged solar and wind data are available at the NASA meteorological website on monthly and hourly basis,

These data are also used in the RETScreen software that may be suitable for your study.
There are some publications in my RG page that utilises NASA data, and the RETScreen as well as other data sources and simulation approaches.
SolarGis is a commercial service because it normally offers the best possible radiation data. Since you pay for it, you should be able to request the data in the format you like.
An alternative good source of free data would be PVGIS (http://re.jrc.ec.europa.eu/pvg_tools/en/tools.html) but it covers only a small part of Indonesia.
NASA SSE/POWER is free but of much lower quality, so beware!
