I do thermal forming of Corning Eagle glass on silicon, as such I am interested in the CTE of these two materials up to 800 C.
I have heard anecdotal mention that eagle glass is engineered to match CTE of silicon, but I cannot find any data about the dependence with temperature.
Complete dependence for Si is described in Okada et al 1984, while all I can find for eagle glass is 3.17 ppm/C (in range 0-300C) from data sheets, but no information about temperature trend.
I wonder if anybody has more information or a reference. Thanks!
You could look at their patents on the off chance that information is listed in a patent and not on the spec sheet? Corning launched Eagle Glass in 2006, same year as this patent (US RE38959 E1). If this information isn't obtainable, I think your best bet is to reach out to Corning if you haven't already done so. I have read papers involving collaborations between Corning employees and academic labs.
About the CTE of glass: they are usually to be understood as mean values for a given temperature interval; yet with a maximum temperature not exceeding the glass transition temperature (Tg). You may want to check: British Standard, BS 7030:1988: "Method for determination of the coefficient of mean linear thermal expansion of glass"; or either equivalent (e.g. ISO 7991:1987) or comparable standards. Commercial glasses are often not recommended for use above its strain point temperature. It is possible to derive the linear thermal expansion coefficient at some given temperature from the dilatometric plot; either after the slope of a tangent line to the graph, or after the derivative plot.
