I have been asked to define if the methodology and methods used in the article below are the most appropriate and what other approaches could have been a better selection and why?

Hi David. It sounds like it - hey!! Natalia - this would be a typical assessment that I would set for my undergrad students. I will offer some 'pointers' - just to get you started. The adopted methodology is essentially qualitative descriptive/exploratory and is done well enough. You just need to determine if another qualitative technique could have been used instead i.e. phenomenology, grounded theory, ethnography etc. You could even look at a a common quantitative option i.e. a survey design (unless your guidelines stipulate that it needs to be qualitative). In terms of method - you need to state if you think that the correct sampling, data collection and data analysis techniques have been adopted.
Attached are three qualitative chapters. They target nurses and midwives - but their principles are generic and may assist.
