Ecological concept on the transmission of disease: This should elaborate various abiotic and biotic factors in the environment optimal for the transmission of disease and environmental conditions which deter transmission: demographic attributes of vector, optimal temperature, salinity, humidity etc. which favor and disfavor multiplication of vector,
This would in turn help in curbing transmission leading to controlling disease. What are various environmental conditions required in controlling the disease? This reminds me Naturopathy in India : In case of naturopathy the diseased is not given any medicine rather surrounding is cleaned and kept unhygienic, repeated sunbath, water bath different posture of bath, hotfoot bath etc. are prescribed and several extracts (Soup) of different herbs are given which helps in controlling disease. i.e. ecosystems of the sick person is managed to treat the disease.
Vector control is basic to control disease. Knowing ecology of vector, demographic attributes, predators and prey of the vector the disease can be controlled by manipulating the ecosystem of the vector.
Epidemiology of any infectious/communicable disease includes Agent factor, Host factor and Environmental factors. Medical Ecology comes under Epidemiology which explain the effects of Environmental factors ( Physical, chemical, biological etc.) on human health.
