I am working on genesis of bauxite deposits of Gadhsisa mine in Gujarat, India. Could you please suggest the type of isotopic or other studies I could do?
It depends on the type of bauxite deposits which you are studying. If it is a lateritic-type you can investigate the saprolite and protolith zone in detail about mineralogical and chemical changes during bauxitisation processes. Detailed mineralogical and transformation processes studies could help you to understand the bauxitisation condition in respect to paloclimate, pH etc (eg. Hanilçi, 2013; Gochemical Exploration, v.133, pp.118-137). The stable C and O isotopic composition of the karstic type and lateritic section (protolith, saprolite, bauxite zones) also gives a good information about bauxitisation conditions (e.g. Öztürk et al., 2002, v.97, pp.1063-1077). To reveal the genesis of karstic-type bauxite is not easy as lateritic-type deposits. there are some approach about find out the source rocks of karstic type deposits such as trace element content of bauxites (e.g. Özlü, N., 1983, Mineralium Deposita, 18, 469-476; schroll and Saure, 1968). I think you can find more paper about bauxite.
I am working in a area in which bauxite is mainly occurring as pocket deposits. They are mainly lateritic bauxites. Also there is extensive limestone deposits too. I am in a mesh wheather those bauxites are lateritic or karstic in origin. I also find in some mine profiles there is occurrence of laterite overcaps on bauxite. Please suggest how laterite occuring above bauxite. The basement rock is of mainly basaltic.
First of all the classical books by I. Valeton (http://books.google.gr/books/about/Bauxites.html?id=75B_HFZB4AsC&redir_esc=y) and G. Bardossy (http://books.google.gr/books/about/Lateritic_bauxites.html?id=LbiBAAAAIAAJ&redir_esc=y & http://books.google.gr/books/about/Karst_bauxites.html?id=-rOBAAAAIAAJ&redir_esc=y) and then you could find many new articles by searching any bibliographical database...
