The fact that the page length policy led to nearly complete loss of longer manuscripts. It is affecting my publications. I have 3 long papers (more than 40 pages each) and can not find a journal to publish them. Can you recommend some good journals that accept long papers in social science, education, educational technology and culture?
Even the most long-winded qualitative papers rarely take more than 5000 words, and I think there is a good reason for this. A paper aiming at publication should have a clear and crisp focus. When my papers were too long I did invariably eventually find that I should have them structured differently. I guess most of us have worked with someone who wants to pack a whole PhD into one paper. In my experience this invariably fails. So Rachel's advice [above] seems to me the answer. On the other hand: your results may be unique and indivisible, then a book might be the more likely way to publish
Have you thought of publishing them as monographs? Alternatively, make them chapters in a book. Your university has a University Press that can help you publish either way.
Would it be possible to split your long papers into multiple shorter papers? Not only will this fix your submission problem, but shorter papers are more likely to be read once they are published.
Thank you all for your contributions. Ian, although I have published a book chapter before, but my first and last option for time being is to always publish a journal paper. I have a paper which has been rejected twice (MISQ and European Journal of Information System) and looking for a journal which accept long papers is not an easy job :).

Ali, I'm not sure about the reasoning that better journal = longer papers. Certainly many great journals have very tight word limits (in part *because* they're great journals.)
I agree with Michael, if you absolutely can't split your results up, a book is probably the best way to go.
Some Online journals do have freedom about paper length. However, the most important aspects of a research paper is in the quality and quality finds expression in the logic, focus, soundness and the uniqueness of the results obtained.

Wiley's Review of Education takes articles of 20k or more as long as the substance justifies the length
The book can be the best venue for your work, as I am also in the same quagmire. I hope you may get the invitation from some book editor. To the best of my memory, the book chapter's word limit is 10,000 for Taylor & Francis ( CRC press) and IGI, US publishing house.
