What NW You want to obtained? Metallic ones, semiconductive ones?
Firstly You have to prepare AAO (Sulfuric, oxalic or phosphoric acid, regarding to the desired pore size), then remove Al (HgCl2 in water, or CuCl2 in HCl), open the pore bottoms (usually 5% H3PO4) and ... deposit desired material.
Dear Wojciech Stępniowski, I would like to obtain semiconductor nano-wires. Actually I have AAO template, but now I want to know how can we prepare semiconductor nano-wires using this AAO template
Shamjid, what semiconductor? For example CdS can be electrodeposited. In general, many semiconductors are being deposited by MOCVD. Others are being formed by simple precipitation. If You tell me what kind of semiconductor You want to deposit, I'll give You details and relevant paper.
Wojciech, the semiconductor is an organic semiconductor like Copper phthalocyanine (CuPc).
I could deposit this CuPc on a glass plate by thermal evaporation method, then placed AAO template on the top of CuPc thin layer. After that I had filled the CuPc material onto the pores of AAO template by applying heat at the melting point of CuPc.But I got only slanted nano-pillars. Since i'm asking some help to prepare these nano-pillars using AAO template by thermal evaporation technique.
Maybe You should apply ultra thin AAO masks as the evaporation mask? Too thick masks will enable shaddowing effects, undesired in Your case I think. In my opinion, about 1 um thick AAO through hole membrane would be OK. Place it on the glass and then - evaporate the CuPC. However, membrane transfer will not be so easy at all (have to use intermediate like melted/dissolved polymer, then remode Al, then open the pores, then place the membrane and finally rmeove the polymer with i.e. acetone). I wish You luck!
dear Wojciech, I have already used 100nm(1 micro meter) and 200nm pore sized AAO template, but I got only the slanted nano-wires. After the CuPc deposition through AAO membrane, I could easily remove the membrane using appropriate etching reagent (like NaOH)...So What extra step I wanted to add to get vertical (out-of-plane) CuPc nanowire?
