I have problem with coordination of my complex to form a crystal , I used all types of solvants and reactions to coordinat a Dy (signal metal) with ligand but after i found just crystal of ligand so please could i use more quantity of base triethylamine or use other bse ?
first of all it depends on which Compound you are working.
for e.g contained your ligand functional group which can be able to habe elektrophil center? or can be able to occupy conjugated double bond(-CH=CH-CH=CH-), or funktional group like -O-H, -COOH?
however it´s important have more information about configuration structure of Dy( Lanthanide-serie)
if you want to deprotonat OH on salicyladehyd you must first of all locked functional group -CHO- with a base using maybe amine group, after that you obtain -CH=NH- (characteristic shiff base) and then it will be easy to deprotonat -OH- after locked -CHO- functional group. you can use then strengh base which able to remove H for -OH.
As previously mentioned it depends on the type of complex. However, if equimolar quantities of Et3N have had no effect, I would also try with NaBARF.
Dear Hadjer Allia thank you for sharing this interesting chemical problem on RG. The synthesis of lanthanide (in this case Dy) complexes often differs significantly from that of the analogous transition metal complexes. Normally, triethylamine is sufficient to deprotonate salicylaldehyde-derived ligands, but in some cases it might be necessary to first prepare the alkali metal derivatives of the ligands. Thus in your case it might be helpful to know in some more detail what the nature of your ligand is. Did you follow a literature procedure?
