What would such a brave new world look like? Would it UK wise be the dissolution of the secretary of state for Education's powers (that have increased over the last several decades)? Would this be a beneficial thing? I ask this question coming very much from thinking about Rancière's notions of dissensus and teachers educating from a democratic position. Starting with democratic principles, not attempting to achieve them.
Education could be divorced from politics if those, reaching top positions, did so thanks to an unpoliticized basis. But this is not the case, in many academic institutions worldwide.
In actuality (which I do not condone), affiliation or belonging to a certain group or coming from a specific family or district all play significant roles in key appointments. Nepotism, explicit or implicit, has become the rule rather than the exception.
Knowing this reality, will induce a wise free man/woman to refrain from seeking posts in this polluted atmosphere.
An undeserved position will ,surely, inflict harm upon others since many persons see a position as merely a source of power & authority. Many scholars do not "really" fear God or His Heavenly Justice so they will play any game by any means.
Thanks Nizar, you've heightened my awareness that this is indeed a very socially and culturally charged question. As I suppose, depending upon where one comes from will determine the kind of political obstructions I'm thinking about in my question. Corruption or nepotism for example may be a big problem in some parts of the world whereas the destruction of one's culture or neoliberalism may be a problem in other parts. Thanks again.
