There is a large number of available scientific journals in the web. This, in my opinion, renders difficult the researchers' (especially newbies) effort to find the most suitable journal to publish their research. Could anyone give any general guidelines and/or tips to the new researchers in order to be able to find the most suitable journal to publish their research? For instance, Springer recommends the journal/s that are best suited to publish an article, by using Journal Suggester (http://journalsuggester.springer.com/).
Be aware that journalsuggester only directs you to Springer publications. There are many other publishers.
The best technique is to take the keyphrases from your draft paper, submit them to Google Scholar, and make your decision based on what you journals you see there.
If the rank of journal is important for you as well, many indicators such as Impact Factor, Journal Acceptance Rate, and SNIP (Source Normalized Impact Per Paper) must also be attended. Impact Factor is a journal metric indicator developing by Web of Knowledge database. Scopus database also has been presenting the SNIP indicator. The larger the Impact Factor and SNIP indicator, the higher the rank of journal will be. Furthermore, some Journals' website also estimate the time that is required for revising and accepting academics manuscripts.
