That depends on whether or not you want a primarily taught Master's or a research one. Since you're in Stony Brook, you might want to look at programs like at the New School: https://www.newschool.edu/parsons/ms-design-urban-ecology/

or perhaps consider research at SUNY ESF, they're developing an urban environment program. Depends on your own philosophy and if you need taught coursework or not. I studied in a more general environmental science degree and then specialised in urban ecology through my work. It's not all taught in the classroom, sometimes you have to get work experience.

You will probably need to look at programs in urban settings if you hope to do fieldwork at low cost to yourself. Best of luck!

I would look at programs associated with one of the urban LTER systems, either Phoenix or Baltimore. A lot of faculty at both sites depending on what specific area you are looking to study.

@Maryann Harris - Yes I totally agree. I do want to take advantages from living and studying in urban setting. It's really hard for me to find 'urban ecology' as a field itself, not a part of Ecology program or any higher level field of Science. Thank you! :)
