Very probably some kind of fern, however David is right, enlarged views are necessary.

I agree with Marc and David; likely a fern or possibly a seed fern (being Triassic, e.g. Dicroidium) but a higher magnification image is needed.

The picture is indeed to small. It looks like a fern, but we need more detail. If it is from the Ordos Basin Dicrodium is very unlikely.

The colleagues are absolutely right, images showing more details (e.g. venation) are neccessary before anything more specific than "probably fern" can be said.

The new (big) overview image is still too blurry; seems to be either slightly out of focus or too much compressed to show the details neccessary for determination. For determination sharp images of details like pinnules and venation would be neccessary.

yes, I agree with all the others - higher resolution photos are necessary, ashowing the pinnule outline and especially the venation.

You should not focus on the coin, but on the fossil. Moreover, the coin as scale is not very informative, because non-Chinese colleagues will not know its size. Why not simply a centimetre for scale? That is the international standard.

Thanks to all of your suggestions and comments at first! I am very regretted that the photo was taken 2 years ago by a postgraduate with a low quality camera. I didn't pay too much attention to the fossil at that time when I examine the core. It's really my fault that I didn't take the photo by my own with a higher quality camera. I hope that I have chance to examine the core again. But I am not sure to have the opportunity or not cause all the cores are preserved in an oilfield company with strict rules and regulations. So, it's really a pity that I can't provide any photo with higher quality! Anyway, thanks a lot for your attentions!

just based on this picture, I would say that it is a fern, possibly belonging to the Dicksoniaceae, but as said before, better pictures are needed.

If you ever get the opportunity to examine the core again, indeed make good photos.

I agree with Han, we need a better picture.
