What is consciousness? Are there stages of consciousness? Do dead organisms have consciousness?

Mind is total outcome from the brain and consciousness is the part of it. CNS including PNS is jointly working on consciousness as part of Jevan or survival. As such mind is a hypothetical concept having different traits of humans.
