Typically a Micronjection System consists of three principal components for bio-manipulation of insects (including mosquitoes).
1) Inverted microscope (regularly used in most labs/ Stereozoom microscope (if you are using a specimen that is opaque and has a typical contour).
2) Micro-manipulator: This actually holds the needle and allows it to be moved in X,Y,Z coordinates.
3) Micro-injector: This acts a piston for injecting your injection sample into the target (eggs/ larvae/ adults). This can be automatic, semiautomatic or manual.
