Can you help me to understand the significance of the difference between collaborating and contributing authorship (eg, GBD)? Do they put similar weightage to University applicant assessors?
My understanding is that in collaborating you are actively taken part in the study, as a stakeholder. Contributing authorship means you are jointly doing the study with other(s). The latter is more substantial contribution.
Indeed this is a complex issue .. because collaboration often also means authorship or at least enough to be eligible as a co-author, however, I believe that both for collaboration and authorship, it depends on how fundamental each one was for the carrying out the study. that is, it may vary what should or should not be taken into account to be eligible as a co-author..
