Cloud services are becoming a critical aspect of day to day work. With the amount of devices, projects and collaborations growing, the ability to manage backup and sharing capabilities is crucial. There are several options out there, and I wanted to use the power of this platform to help me decide which option to use.

As my Dropbox plan is up for renewal, I wanted to define several key aspects to help me decide on my next year provider.

There are several considerations to choose the right cloud plan, my take is that the following are the most important : Price, Ease of use, Extendability, Company size, Company reputation, security.

(1) Price - this is simple yearly price per GB (e.g. Amazon is ~32p per GB while Dropbox is around ~64p)

(2) Ease of use - How much time will I waste on the service that is not work related (i.e. Software ease of use/ firewall options/ proxy options etc.)

(3) Extendability - The ability to extend the service in both storage and collaboration with other people.

(4) Company size - The possibility that the company will cease to exist.

(5) Company reputation - how did the company deal with services in the past (e.g. Google is a great company, but it had several occasions in which a tool she developed and I had learned to use and love was discontinued)

(6) Security - the ability to manage file permissions for collaborative work

If you have any more take on the matter I would love to hear them,
