In the subject research:
Can I use a combination of the following three approaches: 1) Phenomenology, 2) Ethnography, and 3) Case Study?
Would this combination help in easing the research or complicating it?
The Kashechewan community in Northern Ontario (located at the southwestern James Bay) has been frequently experiencing (5-6 flooding events in the past 8-10 years) the flooding events, which is linked to climate change. I would like to examine climate change impacts on the community. In addition, I would like to explore potential (new) opportunities that may arise from climate change for adaptation. This mean not just focusing on the negative impacts of climate change. But also focusing on new opportunities for adaptation. I would also like to explore what contribution Traditional Knowledge and Indigenous Culture can make to reduce the climate change effects and help in its adaptation.
I think that would take two approaches of ethnology and case study, after ethnological study the most representative group would take to make the case studies in more detail, the group size indicates the surface that you can take and thus have better representation of climate processes changed.

fenomenología es una corriente idealista subjetiva dentro de la filosofía que se propone el estudio y la descripción de los fenómenos de la conciencia o, dicho de otro modo, de las cosas tal y como se manifiestan y se muestran en esta. Asienta que el mundo es aquello que se percibe a través de la conciencia del individuo, y se propone interpretarlo según sus experiencias. En este sentido, valora el empirismo y la intuición como instrumentos del conocimiento fenomenológico.
Yo creo que podes retomar los tres enfoques .... suena interesante y me baso en la definicion de fenomenologia .... por un lado esta lo que ellos perciben por el otro como ellos de acuerdo a esto culturalmente lo ejecutan y un estudio de caso te confirmaria esta posicion.
I agree with Antonio too you should go for two approaches of ethnology and case studies. Also I would suggest that keep observing the community for few years and I think it could be a good site for a long time study on the development or you can say evolution of traditional knowledge studies too. As we would see in next generation that the lessons learnt in this generation would be transferred in the next generation or not. It would be interesting to see.

My research question was changed: "How Kashechewan people are affected by and respond to floods?
After reading a lot and keeping in view the perspective I am approaching the problem, I decided to use mixed-methods, case study approach and completed the fieldwork, using three different methods: In-depth qualitative interviews, participatory flood mapping method, and survey research - three different methods for three different objectives. Presently, I am analyzing the data using three different software: 1) Nvivo; 2) SPSS; and 3) ArcMap (GIS).
It is a very interesting question, where I recommend to discuss the issue of 'indigenous'. What is meant by this? People's minority status in a society? Their difference from the mainstream? Their special exposure? Or is it that you mean just "local exposure"?. Here in Fiji the indigenous population is the majority of the population. Usually the impacts / exposure to climate change / natural hazards are not discuss under a label of 'indigenous', but under 'local', 'exposed' 'vulnerable' , 'poor' population. Often these and similar categories play a much bigger role even when there are overlaps between these categories and the category 'indigenous'.
