I am doing my undergraduate major in Civil and Environmental Engineering. It's been more than 5 years and I haven't graduated yet. But I haven't learned almost nothing because of not studying and getting bad grades. My cgpa is very low. I am tensed about what will I do after I graduate. I don't know how to design structures. I wanna be great structural engineer with deep knowledge. I am asking advice for you. Please give me some advice.

Your question is mysterious. Is your university well staffed? Does it teach all the relevant courses? Do you attend lectures? Civil Engineering is a course that consumes all your time and gives you no time for socilization and partying. You have to read and work hard.
If you have course mates then identify the briliant ones among them and befriend them , It is these students that will hep you understand difficult topics.
Since you are still an undergrad student, try to finish your degree first. CGPA is not a barrier to be a good structural engineer. Before the practical experience, most of the people feel the same. However, when you start working, you will learn more. Anyway, there is nothing but dedication and hardworking to be good at anything.
Jahangir Alam Firstly you clear you under graduate degree, and then go for post graduation in structural engineering. Mean while you should keep on learning the structural engineering softwares used for structural designing and drafting like AutoCAD, Staad Pro, Etabs, Tekla etc.

I’m also civil engineering student. but what you said is not understandable because civil engineering needs very hard work to get even pass the first course! also, cgpa is not something to decide whether you’re good or bad in any major. I advise you to go to projects and see things practically because it is very different with our studying. I go to various projects 3 days in a week since along time ago. Now, I think I know much more than my course mates and I understand things in class very very well just because of this.

Try to find money and come to Armenia. I will give you knowledge in earthquake engineering, particularly, in seismic isolation of buildings and structures. I am sure you will become a good structural engineer. Of course, you will have to pay for that.

Hello, the first thing is that in order to be an excellent professional of the structures, you must know your study structure, what you are passionate about, what goals you want to achieve and what are your strategies to achieve them. You have been 5 years and still feel indecisive. There are many ways to get there and achieve it, making the time invested more efficient. you just have to focus and you will reach the desired goal.

My dear, having read through advices already offered, let me add these you must be determine and build up confidence in your self and follow the advices given. If you are still in school meet your mates that are good and visit sites for motivation. I believe with all these advices you can make it.
It is not the percentage or cgpa. Many people are there studying from either a small college or university yet still doing the best in practical life. Whats more, for you it should be first the prime target to complete the current course without feeling drained or negative. No need to think about the negative things and whatever time is with you, must be used meaningfully to complete your degree course. There are invaluable things that might be involved, the prime ones among those are your's parents expectations, money and time, yours own time and expectations of yours from your own self. Therefore first you try to complete your degree to be first called as a Civil Engineer.
Try to enter in professional market and whatever mistakes (because of any reason) have been there not to be repeated from yours end and with persistence slowly you would be getting professional expertise.
Rest think positive, have faith in yourself and in Almighty.

My candid advice for you is this: study yourself very well to know where you are very strong. Do you have love for mathematics and calculation and how strong are you in those subjects? Rate yourself. If you are not all that strong, then your passion for what you desire and determination to succeed are the two elements which will pave way for you. Couple with this, you must be ready to humble yourself to learn from even your juniors who know better than you and be inquisitve. As someone said earlier, associate with consulting company to still learn in practice but your former classroom knowledge will be highly needed.

I was almost like you too when I was doing my undergraduate study, but today, I am presently a PhD engineering candidate at a reputable University outside my country. I was admitted for an engineering degree which was not my choice of engineering degree, but I accepted the admission because I did not want to stay at home then for another year.
Now, this is my response, there is no way you will be studying for 5 years plus and will not gain any knowledge. You have for sure gained a lot of knowledge. Therefore, from my experience, you need to study and graduate first, your low cgpa might affect you in the future, but don't let it pull you down (I also had a low cgpa in my undergraduate study). After you graduate, you then tell yourself the truth and identify one or two subjects/module that you know more than others or that you have more knowledge on, then try to push to a PGD on those modules and start a research master after the PGD on them too.

First of all don't worry ... One of my undergraduate professors once told us that it is impossible to teach us engineering during our undergraduate studies ... They only teach us the "engineering sense" which means how to think about problems systematically.
Just relax and do your best to graduate ... After graduation and while working you will learn a lot.
