There's a finding that most people with binge eating disorder seek treatment for their weight initially, not for their eating behaviors or underlying issues. I now cannot remember who published this finding. Does anyone know?
At least in Spain, neither one nor the other: As we well know, both patients with AN and BN (I am not talking about Vigorexia, Orthorexia, etc.) tend to suffer from an obsessive phobia of gaining weight and therefore eating - which is accompanied by feelings of guilt for having committed a kind of "secular sin" - as a consequence of a delirious altered perception of his own weight and his own body, accompanied by a clear DYSMORPHOPHOBIA. In such a framework, as they know that there are powerful psychotherapeutic -cognitive / behavioral- and pharmacological techniques that, how could it be otherwise, go through eating and gaining weight (it is impossible, in their cases, one without the other ... unless they vomit), THEY SIMPLY PREFER NOT TO GO TO SPECIALIZED CENTERS OR EXPERT PROFESSIONALS FOR TREATMENT -even in a "critical condition" due to Cachexia-; This being the case, many times we have to go to a Judge so that he orders such patients to be fed (generally nasogatically); BUT IF THIS IS NOT ACCOMPANIED BY AN INTERVENTION THAT INFLUENCES THEIR DYSMORPHOPHOBIA AND THEIR DELUSIONAL AUP-PERCEPTIONS, WHEN THEY ARE DISCHARGED, BECAUSE OF ALREADY HAVING AN "ACCEPTABLE" WEIGHT, THEY RETURN TO THE SAME.
I'm sorry; it hasn't come out completely ... so he continues:

On this subject, I allow myself to suggest -without any conceit or vanity, but as a Scientist and Clinician- that you read various contributions from me and from my Research Team, here in "RG", on this problem (various contributions to Congresses, Articles , Chapters in Books, Conferences, etc.). Thanks.
