I am working on a paper in Microsoft word and I have allotted a measured amount of space on the page for a chemdraw figure. In Chemdraw, I made the figure the exact dimensions I measured in microsoft word, however, once I copied and pasted the image, the figure did not fit. I tried with multiple different picture formats, and have seen that chemdraw resizes the dimensions of a figure when you copy and paste it.
Is there a way to ensure the exact dimensions of the figure made in chemdraw copy and paste into Microsoft word?
- Draw your structure/scheme on chemdraw.
- Select the structure/scheme => Go to object => Apply Object Settings from => Choose your preferred style.
- Your structure/ scheme will automatically adopt that style.
- Now you can copy and paste and see if the structure is aligned with your available space.
Note: Most people prefer 'ACS Document 1996' style.
Chances are that the problem is in formatting options of the Word document, rather than in ChemDraw. Make sure you have right settings for Size/Position and Layout (quite often the automatic selection in the Word may not be appropriate for your case).
For the Word document with complicated structure, I would also recommend turning on hidden formatting symbols.
