I am thinking about writing a paper on carbon emissions based on electricity consumption data from some buildings. From a research perspective, which factors should i specially focus while analysing the data ? Having a clear idea about emission factors, I want to have more insight of carbon emission metrics and comparison or scaling of data (may be linking to carbon emissions of that substation).
Recommendations and suggestions appreciated !
I think it would strongly depend on the type of building your considering.
for example, residential buildings use electricity for heating (if equipped with electrical heaters), cooling, (HVAC in general) ; also electrical appliances take up for a meaning full load of household electrical use; however in comparison a small amount is used for lightning purposes. But if an industrial building was taken as consideration, the electrical appliances share would be much more than HVAC or lightning.
Hossein Keshtkar thanks for adding an interesting point. Did you mean for calcualting carbon emissions, appliance based consumption data should be extracted ? Can you please further elaborate in case we distribute total load consumption into certain proportions of appliance based consumptions, how and what factors should be considered while calcualting carbon emissions.
P.S : Appliance level data is not available at the moment, i only have aggregated data from individual meters.
