I have modeled the blade in ansys and found it's mode shapes. I want to validate the results with simple and scientific means because I cannot manufacture a 7 m blade. What do you suggest?
you are probably simulating the blade as a cantilever beam (fixed at the root), to analytically validate your numerical simulation I suggest you refer to the attached book. Good luck
If the blade's cross-section changes smoothly along the beam axis the answer is no: simple beams models or FE can not simulate the behavior of non-prismatic beams. The variation of the cross-section geometry leads to stress distributions that are completely different with respect to the prismatic beams, deeply influencing also beam's constitutive relations. The attached paper provides simple examples demonstrating how prismatic and non-prismatic beams have a completely different behavior.
