While most vocabulary lists (AWL, GSL, etc.) include only headwords, I believe it would be appropriate to include various derivatives, prefixed and affixed forms (e.g. unemployment, employee) in the same vocabulary list with their headword (employ). Reasons for their inclusion might be their frequency (potentially much higher than the headword) and evidence that learners have limited knowledge of word parts. (I have Japanese learners of English in mind, but any second language learning studies would be useful. Thank you.)
