For the identification of diatoms and other marine phytoplanktons such as coccolithophores, flagellates etc books by Desikachary, Tomas and/or Hasle & Syvertsen are very helpful. A compilation of Cyanophyceae by Desikachary (1959) exists but is a bit out of date. Books by Hoffman or Smith on algae/Cyanophyceae/diatoms are also contemporaries that serve the purpose of taxonomic identification well. Atlas by Al-Yamani as well as Houk (2014) etc on marine microflora or freshwater algae are also good literatures to go through. Apart from these books there are many compilations focusing on regional algal resources that might be of help to you as well.

I think the one you have, Wehr et al., 2015 will be very useful for the identification of cyanobacteria to genus level. It's the book that is the more up to date (complete key). For species level and other group than cyanobacteria you can use the

Of course for phytoplankton identification, I recommend you (if you can) to follow a specific training course. It's very useful and you would save time.

I was able to find the book of John, D.M., Whitton, B.A., Brook, A.J. (put it on my wish list!)

The 3 vol. of Komarek & Anagnostidis , I was only able to find vol. 2 & 3 (added to wish list).

The last book you mentioned I can only find being used as a reference by many scientists/authors - everyone is quoting it but no one has it for sale!

The only place I found a copy is at Wiley Online Library. I am going to download a copy, but have to wait for my Pell Grant.
