Though the Internet provide a way to read papers I would not have seen. Most of the necessary information would have reached me anyway in printed form.
The Internet is also a distraction, mail and even this site.
When I started to type this reply I intended to say that it the negative impact together with the positive of having information available - would end up with zero. But I have to be honest, in my case the impact is negative. For other fields the Internet might be more of a positive tool, but not for me who work in biology.
yes it is provided scholars today focus on reading secondary sources and collecting primary data as We did it but Scholars today are Digital Natives and want to get accessibility of everything with just one click . Its good for accessibilty of knowledge and especially toaday in the world of digitisation and Online study but without reading reading books offline will be disastrous
Sandip Kumar Gupta Research is still possible. A lot of beautiful and important events (ex. DNA structure...) and research results were discovered and finished in the Internet-free era. But, a lot of things won't be as efficient. It would be slow. For example, 'communication' with emails. Researchers can communicate by sending and receiving messages in mater of several seconds.
Research is not possible without the internet because now a days it has become a source of relevant bibliography without which you can not proceed your research work.?
I fully agree with Madhukar Baburao Deshmukh . Internet is the main source of information regarding relevant publications and their priorities. This is a very important means of modern researches.
Why not? Internet makes the ways and methods of research easier, quicker and familiar. But absolutely it is possible without internet. The maximum famous things were invented in the previous centuries when there was no internet system, eg. theory of Sir Isaac Newton and Albert Einstein, Penicillin of Alexander Fleming etc.
Internet can help us to get access to online articles, helpful for doing research. There are many genuine research out puts published in the internet free era, as it has been said. In the internet era, one of the major disadvantages is the uncontrolled publication of "articles" in predatory journals. There are many such "articles" that should go to the trash.
Research is anything that you invent new....It is not that it is impossible without internet..It is possible but the thing is it becomes very difficult for accessing resources....Becz u know internet are all begun just few decades back..even earlier the internet era many research had taken place...And the important thing is that we need to be quicker and get faster research results and all...So for that we need internet in this generation....@ Sandip Kumar Gupta
It depends on what you want, if you want just publication then without internet not possible or if you want to research at ground level then without internet can be do.
Could be viable, but as the majority mentioned: It takes more time, so would be a bad idea if you haven't enough time. On the other hand, internet has some limits for find books. It's not a surprise that when you're looking for information and a good bibliography , you find just extracts from the whole book you really want..
Research is finding noval thing(discovery/invention)
In present scenario without internet it’s next to impossible...
In early eras many researches were done... but with time research became professionalized and institutionalized. Through internet, it’s easily presented , published & can be acknowledged/ accepted globally...
‘Internet’ was also invented after years of research... 😊
Dear @Sandip Kumar Gupta When I started working as an Assistant Professor, I didn't have access to Internet. But I generated various first hand information in fenugreek during 1990s. So I do imagine research even without internet. Of course, internet has made research work easier and faster, and has increased our research efficiency.
I think without internet the research is very difficult because both are interconnected. The use of library and books, almost has reduced dramatically.
