Post Graduate Nurses in the University of Fort Hare, South Africa have been undertaking most of their learning using a Problem Based Learning (PBL) approach working in small groups.
Recently a number of conversations have raised the notion of having four small groups which are reflective of Honey and Mumford's learning style categories. Has anyone had experience of using the Honey and Mumford Learning questionnaire as a basis for allocating students in to learning set?
I have not used this questionnaire in my research, so I looked up what is available in RG, which I hope could be useful to you.

You get a lot more on Scholar, which includes the Researchgate. NLM/pubmed only gets Health- Medical - Nursing journals but Scopus also gives a lot more ologies.....

Medical Educators in the UK have been using PBL and Honey and Mumford since Peter Honey first published in 1982. However, I have not found serious applications of the theories to the practice of PBL.
It is interesting to hear from the West Indies and Papua New Guinea; UFH is 100 years old next year and will start a new Faculty of Health Sciences. It has traditionally been the university where African Leaders graduated.
There really is no evidence supporting the use of learning styles in this way. I'd recommend reading this paper: Kirschner PA, van Merriënboer JJ. 2013. Do Learners Really Know Best? Urban Legends in Education. Educ Psych 2013; 48(3):169-183

Much of it I have heard over the years as I have been and Educationalist and Prof of Health Informatics, so I warm to some of the comments.
I work in Africa and live in South Africa and work in an academic environment that has not gone down the technology route yet. Smartphones are now arriving but many students have never seen a computer. Problem Based Learning has been used in the medical school for over 25 years here in the Eastern Cape where the majority of students come from rural villages that have neither running water or electricity.
Many medical educators, particularly in the UK use Honey and Mumford's questionnaire routinely; I was a GP Tutor at one time so used it for all our registrars.
I plan to use this question to help staff in our Faculty develop their research skills so thanks for the input.
