I m looking for an interesting dissertation thesis subject on the middle east studies or African Studies... I m interested in terrorism, the public diplomacy, peace conflict and the religion/sects (wahhabism etc.)...Actually I found some subjects but I think that the subjects which I found are too detailed or too specific to work on...
The topics that you've proposed here don't seem too broad - in fact, they seem too vague (as of yet). Are you looking to pursue a research project that unifies Middle East and African Studies or are you doing them independently? Terrorism, diplomacy, peace and conflict are all quite broad. I suggest looking at your existing knowledge base and regional competencies - then focus in on a more particular topic within that remit. Terrorism could be Al-Shabaab, Boko Haram, the Sinai insurgency, etc. - all could be independent topics on their own. Or are you interested in counter-insurgency efforts? If so, again, from which countries and through which theoretical framework? Think about what you wish to do after your degree and who is your audience for this work?

In this specific moment, the African Continent is facing a lot of problems such as: Governance, Corruption, Freedom, Endogenous Development Plans, and many other things. To resolve some of those problems, many people think that it should be better to enforce our continental Organizations. So, the best topic should be based on the African Economic, Political and Social integration. Such topic seems to be vague, but I think it's very rich and contains any value for the future of Africa.
The other topic should be: the African Union Economic Independancy. Since our main Organization needs foreign helps to survive, that means also the impossibility to follow an independant Development plan, your Research should open some ways to follow.
1. You may undertake case study of recent "opening up" of KSA. Compare/Contrast it with one or two similar cases.
2. Is US influence waning in Middle East?
3. Geo-strategic effects of growing polarization amongst Arab States.
4. Similarities and differences in Chinese approach to Africa and Middle East.
If you intend to research about peace, conflict resolution, terrorism, and spiritual related issues you may attempt to scope the Middle East Studies because it is a conflict-prone region, and specifically the Israeli-Palestinian historical conflict that is not only fueled and motivated by land, but social, religion, political, and economic aspects as well. Thus, think to limit the topic and focus on relevant and correlated helpful points about content analysis of the research.

Well, I think it is important to focus on changes in the ideology of terrorism in the Middle East (external and internal factors). The impact of social media is also important in your research.
