Lattice waves with high frequency and low frequency are supposed to exist in nanostructures, I wonder whether we can distinguish the low-frequency ones from the others and observe them directly.

I don't really know much about experiments and related devices, but do you mean we can directly see the vibration whose amplitude is around 1nm or whose energy is larger than 0.01eV with the help of electron microscopy?
