I am performing topographic corrections on my data sets. I am confused - whether I shall first perform topographic corrections and then do subsequent Pan-sharpening and PC Analysis Or it should be other way around??
Is there other method also, that includes DEM while performing atmospheric corrections. ?
And which one is better ?
The purpose of topographic correction is to eliminate this effect, recovering the true reflectivity or radiance of objects in horizontal conditions. It is the premise of quantitative remote sensing application.
In rugged mountains, as a result of terrain, the effective illumination of pixels varies considerably. In a remote sensing image, the pixel on the shady slope receives weak illumination and has a low radiance value, in contrast, the pixel on the sunny slope receives strong illumination and has a high radiance value. For the same object, the pixel radiance value on the shady slope will be different from that on the sunny slope. Additionally, different objects may have similar radiance values. These ambiguities seriously affected image information extraction accuracy in mountainous areas. It became the main obstacle to further application of remote sensing images.

In my research with my students in both areas, I have considered them separately.
I never considered doing what you are talking about. However, from my understanding, if you perform the pan-sharping correctly and in high quality, you will increase the resolution of your multi spectral imagery using their corresponding panchromatic image (in much higher resolution). Unless you intend to extract multi-spectral DEM and to find the material of the scenery in different heights, you won't need to do that! In that case, still I guess you better do the pan-sharping first since your pan image has no use for you anyway!
