Can we define a vortex core using either a Q-criterion or lambda-2 criterion in a RANS simulation??

I have done some RANS simulation and need to define the vortex core. I was not sure if Q-criterion or lambda-2 criterion accurately captures the vortex core in the flow or atleat a hybrid RANS/LES is required for the same.
