I sent my article to a Scopus journal. the reviewer commented that differences in the number of items may affect correlation.
In my study V1 has 80 items and V2 has 50 items. Will the difference in the number of items affect correlation. if not, I need justification from literature plz help me.

You can't. To calculate the correlation between the values of variable V1 and V2 you need the values of both variables for each subject. ... Correlation is used to test relationships between quantitative variables or categorical variables. In other words, it's a measure of how things are related.
