The dexter theory says that it is applicable for crystals and nowhere mentions about glassy system. can we apply this theory to explain concentration quenching in rare earth doped glass systems? If yes, then how will we calculate the distance between activators. I want to apply dexter theory to identify the type of multi polar interactions in my system (RE doped glassy system). can this be done? Please explain.
